This weekend two fellow writers and I will be heading to West Virginia Penitentiary for a fun filled night of ghost hunting. This will be my first official ghost hunt and I am really looking forward to it. I have read up on the conditions of the location and have to say I am a bit intimidated. However, I have made my list of things to take with me and will be packing it up tomorrow. If anyone has any suggestions please feel free to chime in.
Ghost Hunting packing list:
A copy of my Ghost Hunting License for WVPenn
GPS (for finding our way back to the lobby)
Headlamp Flashlight
Nikon D50 (I am on the fence on this one as I have heard that it is quite dirty but I just love the camera.)
RCA 64 MB Digital Voice Recorder USB
3 Walkie Talkies
Journal & Pen
Watch
Extra Batteries (I might pick up a charger and some chargables if I have time as some say there new batteries drain quickly inside.)
Extra Stuff for Inside:
Wearing Old Tennis Shoes (again very dirty)
Bringing Layers of Clothing (they say it can be cold! Someone said 20 degrees in March!)
Small First Aid Kit (bandaids, wipes, hand sanitizer)
Munchies & Drinks
Old Sleeping Bag to rest on in the lobby.
Of course, any images or recordings we get I will be posting here first of next week. Check back later for a full report.

I used to live within walking distance of this prison. A friend of mine lived right across the street and her house had bullet holes in it from the 1986 riot. It was always an impressive building. As a kid, I thought it just looked like a really cool castle. My Dad, when he was a WVa State Trooper, said the place was a “zoo” when he had to go into it a couple of times a week for police business. He thinks all the talking of hauntings is “bullshit,” though.
I hope you prove him wrong!
hey look at the window on the right side lite brown area looks like body fig in that window the only window on right. hope you have fun !
That’s awesome. I look forward to reading a recap.
I hope you don’t need to use the first aid kit!
