Okay this part of the history of the prison confuses me as our guide did not tell it very well. Apparently a prisoner named R.J. Wells (I think that was it) lived down her under the old admin building. He was a snitch and was treated to larger quarters. This appears to be the remains of a fireplace. Because he ratted out other prisoners, he was butchered down here by a group of inmates.
