Shenandoah River Flood April 2011

Here’s a little “Before & After” slide show of the recent flooding of the Shenandoah River. The flood photos were taken yesterday afternoon when the river had not yet crested. We were to get four to five more feet overnight.

OMG! OMG I can’t believe I just said OMG…thrice!!! Does it still look like that? Did the fire pit/chairs/horse shoe pit wash away??? Wow, that is alot of water!!

The river is back to flowing within the banks but still running a bit deeper and faster than normal. The silver chairs were completely covered by at least five feet of water and believe it or not they stayed put! Most of the sand stuck around in the pits but the logs floated away. No big deal to replace those. We thought we had lost our garbage can, hammock and rake but we recovered them on my birthday. Unfortunately we lost the bench when it flooded a couple of weeks ago. If we don’t recover it we’ll make a new one soon. We still have the tree Tyler cut to make a replacement. The grass is about a foot tall now so we’ll be mowing as soon as it dries up! Come visit!

Did you see Crizer Road, and the bridge that is out there? I passed it on my way back from Orange this weekend. We had tornado warnings and hard rain at the event all weekend.
