Haunted Waters Press Releases the Winter 2012-2013 Issue of From the Depths

Haunted Waters Press is proud to present the Winter 2012-2013 Anniversary issue of From the Depths now available for viewing at the Haunted Waters Press website, on our Facebook page, and on Issuu.com.

The release of our fifth issue marks a turning point for the journal, as well as Haunted Waters Press.  Four seasons have passed since we embarked on this journey with a penciled list of goals and a loose timeline that served as a business plan. With each issue, we have grown and our goals and plans for the journal and the press have evolved.  Within these pages, we commemorate the successes of our first year in publication with hints from the past. We also celebrate the upcoming seasons of change with a glimpse into the future of the journal.  In this issue we pay tribute to A Life Less Ordinary, the very idea that inspired the creation of Haunted Waters Press. Once again we thank you for joining us on this extraordinary journey. Enjoy.

Best regards,

V for Victory

VICTORY

Shenandoah Valley Daily Inspiration from your MLs: DAY 30!!!!

“V” for VENTURE
“V” for VALIDATION
“V” for VICTORY

NaNoWriMo 2012! A thirty day VENTURE full of uncertainties, dangers, pitfalls, and risks. A mountain climbing expedition like no other. A bold battle of words, spirit, drive and VALIDATION. Today as we make the final ascent to the summit, we want to congratulate you on your ambition, your fortitude, and your awe inspiring camaraderie! Never before in the history of the Valley have writers united in such a way! We are so very proud of the courage and inspiration that you have provided your fellow writers throughout this journey.

You’ve ran the good race, fought the good fight, and claimed VICTORY over that mountain! As each of you cross over that 50K mark, we are here to cheer you on! And for those of you who find yourself mid-climb when the clock strikes midnight, know that 50K is still within reach. Never give up! Keep writing those words, and we will be here waiting at the top to celebrate your VICTORY. No soldier left behind! Huzzah!

Thank you for this making NaNoWriMo 2012 the most amazing season yet! You inspire us!

Your ever faithful MLs,
Susan & Rebekah

“If you believe in yourself and have dedication and pride–and never quit—you’ll be a winner. The price of victory is high, but so are the rewards.”
-Paul “Bear” Bryant

There is no defeat in NaNoWriMo!

As part of my NaNoWriMo ML duties, my CoML and I are posting thirty days of inspiration for our Valley Writers. I think maybe Day 19 goes beyond NanoWriMo. Perhaps other writers could benefit from a “No Defeat” zone as well.

Shenandoah Valley Daily Inspiration From Your MLs – Day 19:

I’ve noticed a trend these past few days. A word that keeps popping up here and there, catching the attention of all. Defeat. I ask you, what is all this talk of defeat?

Defeat is not an option in NaNoWriMo. Why? Because NaNoWriMo is not a war against some imaginary foe who can crush you by scheduling appointments, making your work overtime, or inviting relatives over for the weekend. It cannot beat you, take possession of your creative mind, or claim victory over your writing soul. It is a battle of words! Your own words! It is a personal commitment of heart, strength and perseverance. There is no defeat in putting yourself out there, for attempting what others only dream of, for putting words down on paper, no matter how many, no matter how few.

NaNoWriMo is about pushing through! It’s about the discipline, and a growing appreciation of the grind. If you do not settle for anything less than your best effort, you cannot be defeated! At the end of thirty days, should you not reach that magical, arbitrary number set by some brilliant guy who decided it would be a cool number to strive for, even then, you are not defeated. Because you did not quit, because you did not give up, because you did not abandon your words. In the end, if you fight your heart out in an attempt to reach the goal, if you lie exhausted on this imaginary field of battle, then you have achieved success and I will raise my glass to salute you.

Vince Lombardi once said “A man can be as great as he wants to be. If you believe in yourself and have the courage, the determination, the dedication, the competitive drive and if you are willing to sacrifice the little things in life and pay the price for the things that are worthwhile, it can be done.”

This area is now classified as a “No Defeat” zone! Go forth and conquer! Now go write something brilliant!Image
